We recently partnered up with Cartwright Mobility to facilitate a very special conversion, for Hull FC superfan Wes Trowell.
Wes has cerebral palsy and needs to stay in his wheelchair to travel. Therefore it was imperative that he had a specially adapted vehicle which would make travelling a doddle, especially as he needs to get to all of Hull FC’s games.
Our Stoneacre Ford York branch supplied a high roof Ford Custom and Yorkshire conversion company specialist Cartwright Mobility got to work on the conversion, fitting the van with an automatic platform lift and restraints for Wes’s power chair.
However, keen to go above and beyond for this avid Hull FC fan, we managed to get the support of the club to offer some truly special touches.
A custom paint job in the Club’s colour of black and white with colour coded bumpers, wing mirrors and alloy wheels with tailored Hull FC hubcaps, ensures the vehicle looks the part. However, for that extra special touch, we got the interior cupboard door signed by the players’ just before the handover.
Nine players from the club met Wes at the training ground on County Road in Hull to give him the keys to his new wheels.
Wes, 25 from Hull, was delighted with his new vehicle: “It’s great – it was a massive surprise and it looks really good. I’ve followed the Club since the KCOM Stadium opened and this is brilliant!”
If you need a specially adapted vehicle then why not find out more about our Motability scheme.
