Learn About Lupus
Lupus is an incurable immune system illness which is mainly suffered by women and is thought to be genetic in origin. People affected by this illness produce too many antibodies which when circulating through the bloodstream can cause inflammatory responses anywhere in the body. The main symptoms of Lupus are joint and muscular pains and extreme lethargy so it can often be hard to diagnose. However, worldwide Lupus is actually more common than Leukaemia, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis.
The main vision of Lupus UK is to try and support sufferers to live a full and active life. To do so they aim to enhance the care available to sufferers while also promoting awareness about the illness to heighten the greater public’s understanding.
