We’re delighted to announce our sponsorship of 2018 Miss World winner, Alisha Cowie. During her year-long reign, we have handed Alisha the use of a brand new Suzuki Swift, meaning she can arrive at all of her Miss World engagements in style.
Alisha is a 19-year-old student from Newcastle, who models part time for Tyne Tees model agency. In 2017, she competed and won Miss Newcastle and went on to represent the city at the Miss England final in September 2018. Alisha saw off the competition to win the Miss England title and as a result, gained the opportunity to compete in Miss World. This meant a month-long trip to China at the end of 2018 to represent England at the finals in Sanya.
On top of all of that, Alisha is studying a forensic science course at Teesside University. Alisha is committed to her studies and has hopes of becoming a police officer or detective in the future.
As such a great patron of the North East, the team at Stoneacre Middlesbrough were keen to offer Alisha support. By providing a car, Alisha has a reliable method of getting to all of her engagements. This will allow her to carry out the vital yet often unseen aspects of the Miss World competition, which includes extensive charity work.
Alisha has a busy year ahead, with multiple engagements already planned. This will include work for Beauty With A Purpose; a charity set up by a former Miss World competitor to raise funds for disadvantaged children. Beauty with a Purpose has projects running in more than 100 countries and operates on both a local and international level. It gives thousands of competitors every year, the opportunity to make a worthy and lasting contribution to the lives of sick and disadvantaged children.
Within England, some of the money raised by past Miss England’s has been spent on specially adapted wheelchairs & minibuses, supporting Riding for Disabled groups, funding a holiday home in Finlake Holiday park and sensory equipment for special needs schools as well as many other worthy projects.
Alisha’s own special task is to help the education of autistic children by raising awareness and promoting understanding. The project plan is outlined in Alisha’s touching video, below;
Alisha popped into our Stoneacre Middlesbrough branch this week to pick up her brand new wheels and was over-the-moon with the car saying;
“My reign as Miss England so far has been incredible and now that Stoneacre would like to sponsor me with a brand new car; it’s the icing on the cake! I can’t wait to get behind the wheel!”
With its head-turning style, we think the Suzuki Swift is the perfect partner for Alisha. We wish her every success with her future ventures and can’t wait to see her out and about in her Suzuki Swift.
