The beloved Nissan Micra is back – and this time, it’s electric. Set to launch in 2025, the all-new Micra combines the agility and charm of its iconic predecessors with cutting-edge electric performance.

Designed in London and built for the cities of tomorrow, it’s a compact EV that’s ready to make a big impression.

A London-Designed Hatchback with European Innovation

Created at Nissan Design Europe in Paddington, the new Micra carries a distinctive urban style with broad appeal. While designed in the UK, it will be manufactured in Douai, France, at the Ampere ElectriCity plant.

Built on the shared AmpR Small platform – the same architecture underpinning the new Renault 5 EV – the electric Micra is set to deliver European efficiency with unmistakable Nissan character.

Expected Battery Options and Range

Although full technical specs are still to be confirmed, the Micra EV is expected to offer two battery configurations:

  • 40kWh battery – ideal for daily commutes and city driving
  • 52kWh battery – offering a projected range of over 248 miles (WLTP)

These options will provide flexibility for drivers, whether they’re navigating urban streets or heading further afield. As with all electric Nissan cars, the Micra will deliver instant torque and smooth acceleration, making every drive feel effortlessly responsive.

A Legacy Evolved

First launched in 1982, the Micra quickly became known for its compact size, affordability, and everyday reliability. Now reimagined as a fully electric model, it represents a bold new chapter in the nameplate’s history – one that embraces sustainable driving without compromising on personality or practicality.

Leon Dorssers, Regional Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Nissan’s AMIEO region, explains:

“All the new models will share common Nissan DNA: striking design, technical innovation and intuitive technology – a combination of qualities which we are confident will attract new buyers to Nissan, as well as continuing to appeal to existing customers who already love how Nissan vehicles enrich their daily lives.”

When Can You Get Behind the Wheel?

Nissan has confirmed that the electric Micra will go on sale before the end of 2025. As one of the first models in Nissan’s new generation of electric vehicles, it reflects the brand’s growing commitment to zero-emissions mobility across Europe.

With sleek styling, strong range potential, and the reliability drivers have come to expect, the Micra EV is poised to be a standout option in the competitive small electric car market.

Looking Ahead with Nissan

The return of the Micra in electric form is just one part of Nissan’s wider electrification strategy. Alongside models like the third-generation LEAF and the Qashqai with e-POWER technology, the Micra EV signals a strong push toward cleaner, smarter urban mobility.
